I look forward to seeing how the investments help these hardworking groups to serve their communities.”
Cllr Lisa Brown, Cumberland Council’s Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Adults and Community Health, said: “Community Panels were set up to hear, and respond to, the needs of their particular area. I would urge groups to get in touch and see how we can help. Our aim is for communities to lead on their investment, and for the council to enable that.”
Cumberland Council’s eight Community Panels were designed to put residents at the heart of decision making in their communities. Made up of ward councillors, they work with residents and a wide range of partners to ensure effective investment.
The hyper-local support they can offer is vital in sustaining resilient, vibrant communities.
The Border, Fellside and North Carlisle Community Panel covers the wards of Belah, Stanwix Urban, Longtown, Brampton, Houghton and Irthington, Corby and Hayton and Wetheral.
The application deadline for the next round of Community Panel support for the Border, Fellside and North Carlisle area is 12 February.
