New law comes into force to protect farm animals from dog attacks
New law now in effect strengthening protections for sheep, cows and other farm animals saving famers thousands of pounds each year
Longtown is a small market town in the parish of Arthuret sitting on the south bank of the River Esk 9 miles north of Carlisle and 3 miles from the Scottish Border. Situated between the Roman Wall and nestled on the edge of the wild Debatable Lands it has a wealth of history and heritage to share. It is bounded by the Rivers Esk, Lyne, Raeburn and Carwinley burn. The ancient parish of Easton is part of Arthuret parish.
